Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, the Honorable President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, undertook an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on August 2–3,.
President Pezeshkian commenced his visit with a stop in Lahore, where he was warmly received by Mr. Nawaz Sharif, Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League, and Ms. Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of the Punjab. During his stay in Lahore, he paid tribute at the mausoleum of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Later that day, the President traveled to Islamabad, where he was formally welcomed by the Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, at Islamabad International Airport.
On August 3, President Pezeshkian held separate meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. He also met with the chairman the Senate amd Speaker the National Assembly. In addition, the President delivered a keynote address at the Iran-Pakistan Business Forum, which was attended by Pakistan’s deputy prime minister and Foreign Minister, Minister for Commerce, and more than 300 prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs.
The President was accompanied by senior cabinet members, including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, Roads and Urban Development, and Industry, Mining and Trade, as well as the Governor of Sistan and Baluchestan Province and several high-ranking political and economic officials. The accompanying delegation also held bilateral meetings with their Pakistani counterparts.
During this important visit, the two countries signed 12 cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding across various sectors, reaffirming their commitment to deepening bilateral ties and advancing mutual interests.
