Iran, Pakistan call for strengthening cooperation to eradicate terrorists

The commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in a meeting with the chief of Pakistan's army has called for boosting cooperation to eradicate terrorists in the shared border areas.

Major General Hossein Salami made the remarks in a meeting with General Syed Asim Munir in Tehran on Saturday afternoon.

Iran considers Pakistan's security as its security and by expanding interactions, cooperation, and joint actions, they will end the existence of terrorist groups and establish stable security in the shared border areas, General Salami stressed.

Referring to the region as a place that has always been influenced by international political forces, Salami said that there are powers in the region that do not tolerate unity and solidarity among Muslims.

The Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, for his part, expressed his satisfaction with his visit to Iran and emphasized the importance of increasing defense and security interactions between the two countries.

Pakistan is ready to strengthen cooperation with Iran to resolve the challenges of insecurity by the presence and activities of terrorist elements in the joint border areas of the two countries, he underlined.

He called for using the most appropriate solutions to pass the current situation and make progress in the other fields of mutual interests.

The meeting was held to promote intelligence, educational, military, and security interactions and cooperation, as well as to encounter the phenomenon of border insecurity as well as the grounds for unity and brotherhood between the two countries.
